2nd Innings! Back to RR

The stint with Roaring Riders went on very good, we had made a couple of Rides ( Pondy, Tada, and more).
Slowly it became a Burden on me, and i started to feel the pressure. When any meet was called, there would be not more than 2 / 3 for the meet.
Sometimes Sachi n me or Anna n me or we three used to meet at Besant Nagar. No Rides, nothing.
Roaring Riders Club became slowly dormant, and i wanted to get out of Yezdi, and sold my first Love( 3739 ) to Mr. Srinivasan, who was Senthil's Customer and worked in University Of Madras.
I bought a Brand new Pulsar 180, and was happy on it.
But it took me some days to get used to the light feel of the Pulsar.
I joined the xbhp.com, and was active there with my friends, Badri, Vijay, Krishnan, Praveen. Praful, Apar, Kiran, and many more.
I had left my job, Resumed my Education @ SRM University. Many times i had made it to college on my Pulsar ( 45 mins ) from home to college. I loved those rides.
Sachi used to stay veyr near my house, and we would bump in Intentionally or Accidentally. I always was waiting for a chance for riding a Yezdi or Jawa. But was feeling complacent for selling my bike.
Then i just asked my dad, can i buy another Yezdi, he asked the Budget.
The market was ok, not very high forY bikes, I asked anna to help me get a bike, and he did it.
I bought a Roadking 1995 model with papers In Current, the bike was in ridable condition.

I Got the bike, the cables were hard, and petrol tap was broken. I wanted these small works to be done asap, so that i can get back to serious riding.
But no one helped me. They needed 15 days to do these small works.
Then i decided to give the bike to senthil, But he denied, as he was busy with other bikes. Finally i made him take my bike and do the works.

It did not look like a Roadking. I wanted to turn it into a Matt Black Bike, then i was also hunting for a Roadking Tank. Mr Srinivasan another member had offered me a Tank for a good price and in exchange for my Deluxe tank.

There i was back to Roaring Riders, as the Moderator. Look at my Helmet. I loved RR so much.

We started with a bang. The first ride attracted more than 20 bikes.
We waited for July, we were planning for Jawa Day Ride. We made a two day ride to Hoggenekkal.
It was a huge success. 33 bikes, and what more would a passionate Yezdi Club Moderator need? We were all happy. The entire trip was incident free, and did not feel tired the whole time.
But by that time i already had 2 Yezdi's in my stable.

I bought a decent looking 1989 Deluxe for 13K from Vijay joshua, who faked me telling stories that he is selling this bike as he is going Abroad and before that he wants to buy a RX100.
But i met this guy at senthil's shop with a Roadking, which needed some Clutch Work.

Anand joined me for all the rides on the Roadking, and i took the Deluxe as it was not in top condition.
I met Paneer Uncle at Senthil's shop, and he offered me his bike, a 1978 B Model, and i asked my dad, and he i was owning that bike the next day.
I bought it for 14500, i was so proud to own this bike. This looked gr8, needed some engine work.

I was planning to ride it till it breaks down, and do it up completly. Which i did.
I took the bike to Sekar, and he took 10 days to do the bike. I was on top, the bike was gr8. Had to run in the bike. Which i did in less than 45 days. The bike was super. Had chromed the handle, silencers. and the bike looked gleaming.
This was the best in my stable until i bought my Fanta. Once of the best in the club.

Fanta Ditched me for the First time! ( 4th October 2010 10:20 PM)

Fanta one of my prized possession from Jayaganesh. A 1996 Roadking painted in Fanta Color, It took Jai close to an year for completing the fanta. I don’t know what went into  his head to sell the bike. But I was happy that he was selling this bike, because we had an agreement that when he decides that he was going to sell the FANTA, I will be offered first. I had the first offer which I wasn’t able to refuse. So I had to sell my 1995 Roadking for getting FANTA. Sundar was ready to buy my bike and the deal went through in a week, and already I was having fanta.

I was the owner of FANTA, one of the finest bike in our Roaring Riders.
It made several heads turn on the road which I enjoyed. I wanted to make the bike look Unique, hence I fitted a horn which I procured from ravi, another member. This made fanta even more popular in the city, people used to call this bike “ Kombu vecha YEZDI “. And I like it.

Fanta is my most reliable bike, and has never let me down. Even my wife likes FANTA a lot. She says FANTA is the best in my stable (Till now).

I started from work a little early at 10:15 PM, FANTA was low on fuel. I was planning to fill petrol on the way back home. I came out towards OTP Signal, Guindy. Bike got off nearing the signal. I thought that the tank was dry, and tried to push it to the nearby petrol pump. It was closed. I was waiting near Ambal Nagar petrol pump for 30 mins, asking Autos either to take me to the nearing petrol pump or give me a litre of petrol. None were Interested, time was 11:00 PM. I did not loose hope, Atlast one good hearted Automan stopped by and gave me Petrol( half litre ) and took money. After pouring it and with confidence, I kicked, kicked and kicked, but she did not want to start, I checked the petrol tube, and saw petrol flowing out. Checked the sparkplug, it was working fine.
Then I suddenly remembered Vineeth’s office was close by, and called him to check if he can keep my bike for the night. I started pushing FANTA towards Vineeth’s office, and my dad was also on the way. I met my dad and was holding the door and was taking a lift from OTP till Vineeth’s office. Nearby I met Vineeth, and he inspected the bike, and was complaining on the filter, so he tried to remove the filter which tore the petrol tube, still can be managed with the torn tube.
After reversing the Filter, bike started in few kicks. I was happy, but did not want to take risk. I left the bike at Vineeth’s office, and went home around 12:00 AM with my dad in our Indigo Marina.
Nextday I went to Welcome Auto Spares, and asked for a petrol Tube,

the boy there asked me “ Which bike “ and I said yezdi! He imm asked me back is that Fanta one yours????
I was Happy being Recognized, and said yes yes! The same one.
I bought the tube on the way to work,Called up Vineeth at about 9:30 PM, and he picked me up near the signal, we changed the petrol tube, and the tube too.
Then i started back home roaring in my FANTA$, filled fuel on the way.
I hope FANTA is back to normal and will be reliable as ever.

My First Yezdi - A Roadking!

To be true, i never had any idea what an Yezdi was, or about the different models.
The first bike i bought was a 96' Roadking( 3739).
When i used to be young, in my early days, my dad had a Bullet, and i just loved going for a round on the bullet.
Later he sold the bullet, and bought a Fury, and after that a Classic ( 107), and a 350 ( TSH 377).
I always used to think why it had the kicker n gear integrated. How the whole thing works.
I never imagined of owning a Yezdi. Then he sold both the bikes, as he was not able to maintain them. Then time passed by and i grew up. On my 18th birthday(Sept 2000) i had a bike to ride, till then i never knew it was for me.
Its a 1996 model Hero Honda Street. It was awesome riding the clutch less bike in the city.
The first round i took it was to Srivats house( my best friend) to Satyasreya Aparts in the morning around 6:45 AM. About srivats i will have to write a blog, and i am sure we will have things to make it long. Ha ha ha ha.
I always wanted to own a bullet. Time flew and it was 2003 i felt the need of another bike. And i started bugging my father for a bullet, he started advising me that a bullet is not as easy as i think, and all such things. He said if u want a Yezdi i can get you, but not a bullet. All i needed was another bike, so i started searching for a Yezdi.
Then i was flipping through a friends free ads, i found this advt " 1996 Roadking for Sale", my dad was not in station, on the way to college i checked this bike, and kind of liked this bike.
All i had to do was to make my father believe thatt his is the best Yezdi available and i picked it up for 9K.
Which happened, and I became the owner of a Yezdi Roadking in a poor Condition.

In the meantime i started searching for Yezdi and found the YJOCI - Yezdi & Jawa Club of India. A Yahoo group where i met Harish, Prakash, & Nelson.Harish introduced another friend - Ananthram from vadapalani.

Harish's Bike

We were planning to meet up sometime and it was getting postponed again and again.
After a week, i wanted to transfer the bike to my name, so i had to go to the Insurance company to get the insurance on my name. On the way back near alwarpet the selector Broke.
I did not know what to do. I had a mechanic's number with me( Ganesan - Welcome Auto ).
Called him, and we towed the bike to his shop. We then decided to move the bike to a specialist in Vananthurai ( Saravanan) Got him a load of spares, did not know what was what in that. After 2 days , i brought the bike back home. Again the selector Broke. Again i had to spend about 2000 Rs on it.
I was fed up with this thing. Wherever i took the bike, i had starting problems.
I was not happy with this bike, lot of engine noise, everything was loose. The seat was lousy. Tank was leaking from the PADS.
The day came when we were all fixed to meet at COZEE, Besant nagar at about 5:30 PM
Harish, Prakash, Ananth, Karthick, and myself met up. I was the youngest of the lot. And i was so shy to show my shabby bike to them. Still i did take my roadking.
Then harish took my bike for a spin and told me to meet Paneer Uncle and Sekar,

I did take it the next day and sekar was happy to take my bike for Repair.

Engine was opened up, My daily job was to go to sekar's shop and see the work and come home in the evening. 13 days, i got back my bike, and Paneer uncle called me by 6 PM, asking if i reached home safe. Bike was gr8 and Roaring. i touched 80- 90 on the beach road. I felt like riding a monster.
It was then one of the best in the group.

On July 8th 2003 we decided to start a Separate group in Chennai - Harish instantly Named it as Roaring Riders, and after the meet was over at isphani centre, I started a yahoo groups and started inviting friends from YJOCI. We then decided to meet up every Sunday at besant nagar. And we did meet up.
